Potipot Island, Zambales

It has been a while since my last entry to this blog. I'm back with good memories to share and this is my recent solo, unexpected escapade to the northern part of the Philippines.

Potipot Island is one of the best places for family outing - also the best haven for the broken-hearted, for those who soul-search and for those who want to disconnect from work duties and stress.

Located at Candelaria, Zambales, going to this pristine island takes about 7-8 hours of land travel. Since it is my first time going to Potipot, I am not sure if there are shorter routes to get there. I only searched some blogs on the net.

Anyway, here's what I've read and followed:

1. Ride a Victory Liner bus from Pasay to Olongapo.
2. From Victory Liner - Olongapo terminal, take another bus ride to Sta Cruz.
3. Tell the driver to get you to Dawal Beach Resort - one of the nearest points to Potipot Island.
4. Take a boat ride to Potipot Island.

I left Pasay at 1PM and arrived by 8:30PM in Dawal Beach Resort - that's already an "express" ride. Haha.

I even asked for the resort rate and it was P1,800 (good for 2 persons).

The thrifty character in me always win so - I decided not to stay in the resort but instead on the nearby waiting shed until the morning. Hahaha!

It was fun, I swear. Luckily, I am safe. You know it's province, you can only hear the bats' noise and tricycle/bus winding horns.

I didn't even worry for the foods. I just ordered packed foods and water in the area since there are no commodities sold in the island.
My arrival to Potipot Island was one of my most memorable experiences considering that I travel solo. The sea was so calm, the place made me feel like I'm in heaven where all your stress and problems are gone.

Well, I don't have any problems why I went there, I just wanted to experience how it feels like to be alone - when no one bothers you and when you can do all you want do - to be free!
